Your Brain’s Tired. Your Body’s Tired. Burnout’s Real. Let’s Talk About It.

Burnout doesn’t arrive with a bang – It’s stealthy.

You don’t wake up one day and suddenly feel burnt out. It creeps in. Quietly.

Then one day, you realise you’ve been running on empty for weeks… or months.

Are you currently working long hours? My curious research tells me that there is pretty solid evidence that working anything over 50 hours a week and productivity actually drops. So if you’re working more and feeling like you’re getting nowhere, that might be your first clue.

Here are a few other signs of burnout:

  • Exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix – mental, emotional, physical.
  • Low motivation – everything feels like a slog.
  • Irritability and short fuse – your team (or family) may already be tiptoeing.
  • Poor concentration and memory – you are often wondering where you left things or walk into a room and forget why.
  • You just don’t care anymore – the pride, the purpose… gone.
  • Poor self-care – food, sleep, people, habits… all a bit of a mess.

Sound familiar?

The positive is that you are not alone. Burnout is very real, and it’s on the rise. The positive is that YOU can turn things around. YOU!

I know these four simple steps will help:

  1. Say no more often – To meetings, events, favours, and expectations that aren’t essential. Saying no is self-leadership, not selfishness.
  2. Unplug – Less mindless scrolling. Less background noise. Give your nervous system a proper rest.
  3. Delegate – You don’t have to do it all. You’re not a machine. Share the load – at work and at home.
  4. Schedule joy – Yes, schedule it. Something just for you. Something fun. Something that reminds you who you are outside of your to-do list.

You don’t need to fix everything at once. Just take one small, kind step toward yourself today.

Burnout thrives in a negative mind set, in silence and in self-neglect. Recovery starts with awareness, acknowledgement and small, deliberate shifts.

If this hits a little close to home, I’m here. Let’s talk about how you can reclaim your energy, your clarity – and your joy.
