You’re Allowed

To Want What You Want simply

Stay silent about what you prefer and life fills in the blanks.

You’re allowed to want what you want.

The window seat. The earlier meeting. The quieter weekend. The different role. The stronger boundary. The conversation handled differently.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you will always get it. It doesn’t mean everyone has to agree. And it definitely doesn’t mean you are being difficult.

A preference is not a demand.
It is simply information.

You see, when you keep dismissing what you prefer, you slowly train yourself out of having your voice heard. You become very good at being agreeable, flexible, low-maintenance… and then wonder why your life feels like it is running on autopilot.

The reality is, if you never name what you prefer, other people will fill in the blanks. Not always because they are controlling. Sometimes because you gave them nothing else to work with.

What I know is that this really matters –

at work, at home, in relationships, in leadership, and in the small daily choices that quietly shape your life.

So, here’s your reframe for the week:

Naming a preference is not the same as forcing an outcome.
It simply means you are willing to be included in the decision.

If you want help strengthening your voice without becoming pushy, reach out.
